Art for Urban Spaces began life as A Northern Soul, a collaboration of pop art work by Michael Hadfield and Rebecca Pattison.
Our Pop Art centred around two genres Hip Hop and Mod culture. Sharing a genuine passion for the Sixties and mod culture we have produced many paintings depicting snapshots of the decade. The highlight being selling several paintings to The Modfather Paul Weller. Our Hip Hop inspired work led to an exhibition of Run DMC paintings at Adidas concept store in London's Carnaby Street.
The main aim we had was to bring our Pop Art to mainstream consumers. Due to high gallery commission fees it was at the time difficult to sell art at an affordable price. Hence we launched our own website in 2002. The site was dedicated to affordable, cutting edge art.
The natural progression from our own affordable art was to begin to source art from other new artists. Hence Art for Urban Spaces was born, a showcase for artists and photographers without the high gallery or auction site commission fees. The result of this collaboration of artists is a fresh, cutting edge gallery presenting art for sale from around the globe. We continue to strive to source new artists, feel free to submit your work via the contacts page.
Kind Regards, Rebecca.
